I’m from God’s Country... Missouri originally, but I have been living in Texas (where God comes for vacation!) for the past 15 years except for a one year hiatus to Oklahoma. I got here by way of Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Chicago, and Arkansas (again).
Grad school brought me here and I've never left other than the aforementioned hiatus.
Pushing paper for some of the most brilliant people in the world is how I earn a living, but my hobbies keep me grounded.
Growing up on a small farm in a rural community in SW Missouri gave me many opportunities to work with my hands and brain. Some of the things I didn’t care for much when I was younger have turned into my pastime.
These include gardening and fixing things (I break/mess up a lot of stuff to this day).
My formal education is in Agricultural Economics (Mizzou ‘93 and Texas A&M ‘06), but the skills and knowledge I gained on that little farm serve me well even now. Whether it’s starting tomatoes and peppers from seed, designing and printing 3-D projects, building something with wood, or even brewing beer I rely on those things I learned growing up in the country and going to a small town school (60 of us in my class; 45 went K thru 12 together).
I’ve been posting a lot of what I tinker with, grow, and make on facebook and Instagram for the past few years. Finally, it’s time to put on the big boy overalls and start a blog.
I hope you enjoy following what I put on here, and I’ll warn you in advance, I type faster than I think sometimes and spelling and grammar mistakes are the norm rather than the exception.
